Your time at the University
Why did I decide to study in Edinburgh? The beauty of the city and the warm comfortable feeling I had when I first arrived meant I had to study there! I still feel a sense of excitement and joy as I arrive in the city, it's a great city and a great University. I had only happy times at the Vet School in Edinburgh where I was lucky enough to meet my wife. Would I do it all again? Definitely yes, and I would without doubt choose Edinburgh. It's my second home – I love Edinburgh.

Tell us about your experiences since leaving the University
I started working at Donview Veterinary Centre in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, as an assistant vet. It was a great practice to spend my first years and couldn't have had better support as a new graduate. In fact I am still there now as a director and will likely stay until retirement! The ethos of offering the best support we can to new graduates and to veterinary students continues today.
Alumni wisdom
Make sure your first job is the right one, look for support and a good team. This is more important than any other aspect of a job's package.
