Martin Creed
Martin Creed is known for his playful and witty work that utilises prosaic materials in a celebration of the everyday.
He works in a wide variety of forms including installation, performance, music, painting, drawing and the found object, and is perhaps most well-known for winning the Turner Prize in 2001 with his Work No. 227 The lights going on and off.
His practice has been linked with many art movements including conceptualism, minimalism and the 'young British artists' group of the 1990s. Creed graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in London in 1990, and currently lives and works in London and Alicudi, Italy.
The ARTIST ROOMS collection includes nine works by Creed, that the artist himself donated.
