Support for disabled students
We foster an inclusive environment that enables all our students to thrive.
Our Disability and Learning Support Service (DLSS) recommends a variety of learning adjustments to Schools and the exams and library teams based on how you experience your teaching, learning and research.
Discuss your needs
We are keen to ensure that any adjustments or support arrangements you need are put in place in time for your arrival and would strongly encourage you to register with the DLSS as soon as possible so we can discuss your needs.

Applications
We welcome applications from disabled students and aim to ensure no applicant is disadvantaged due to disability or impairment.
The application process for disabled students is identical to that of all other applicants.
Support and advice
Disability Advisers offer support throughout your time at Edinburgh. They can:
- discuss your support needs as a result of your disability, neurodiverse or medical condition or specific learning difference
- make recommendations for specific study and examination adjustments
- help you apply for Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) to fund assistive technology or study support workers (such as mental health or autism mentors, specific learning differences tutors, notetakers, proofreaders)
- for those who are not eligible for DSA, apply for funding through the University’s Disabled Student Support Fund
- match you with student support assistants
Accommodation
We have a good range of accessible residential accommodation in halls of residence and self-catered flats.
