Terms and Conditions - edX Instagram giveaway
These are the terms and conditions for the University of Edinburgh's Instagram giveaway in conjunction with edX running from 6th to 17th September 2023.
1. Eligibility
- The giveaway is open to individuals aged 13 and above residing anywhere in the world.
2. Entry Requirements
- To enter the giveaway, participants must:
a) "Like” the specified giveaway post on Instagram.
b) Follow @edinburghuniversityonline and @edxonline on Instagram.
c) Tag two users and comment which University of Edinburgh course offered by edX they would like to study.
d) Comment before the giveaway ends (17th September 2023, 11:59pm BST).
- Participants may enter the giveaway more than once.
3. Prize
- 15 randomly selected winners will get free of charge access to a University of Edinburgh course (Verified track) of their choice offered on edX. The prize(s) will be clearly stated in the initial giveaway announcement post. The week after the giveaway ends, a winner announcement post will be published and the prize must be redeemed within by 30 October 2023. - The giveaway prize (getting free access to the Verified track of a course) is not an automatic guarantee of receiving certification – the learner must complete the course fully first.
- The prize is non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and cannot be substituted for cash or any other alternatives.
- The University of Edinburgh and edX reserve the right to substitute the prize with an item of similar value if necessary.
4. Winner Selection and Announcement
- The winners will be selected randomly from all eligible entries.
- The winners will be announced on @edinburghuniversityonline’s and @edX’s Instagram accounts within one week after the giveaway ends.
- The winners will be contacted via direct message on Instagram. If a winner does not respond within three (3) days, a new winner may be selected.
5. Verification and Claiming the Prize
- Each selected winner must provide valid contact information and proof of eligibility to claim the prize.
- If a winner is found to be ineligible or fails to comply with the giveaway rules, a new winner may be chosen.
- The prize will be delivered digitally to the winner within a reasonable time frame.
6. Rights and Publicity
- By participating in the giveaway, participants grant The University of Edinburgh and edX the right to use their username, comments, and any submitted content for promotional purposes related to the giveaway.
- The winner may will be encouraged to participate in publicity activities related to the giveaway, such as sharing their experience on social media or being featured on The University of Edinburgh / edX platforms. However, this is not a requirement.
7. Privacy
- Any personal information collected from participants will be used solely for the purpose of administering the giveaway and will not be shared with third parties without consent.
8. Modification or Termination
- The University of Edinburgh and edX reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the giveaway at any time without prior notice.
- The University of Edinburgh and edX also reserve the right to disqualify any participant who violates the giveaway rules or engages in fraudulent or harmful behaviour.
9. Release of Instagram
- This giveaway is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by Instagram. Participants acknowledge that they are providing their information to The University of Edinburgh, edX, and Instagram.
10. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
- The giveaway and these terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland.
- Any disputes arising from the giveaway shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Scotland.
