Postgraduate entry requirements for students from all other African countries.
The minimum requirement for entry to most postgraduate taught degrees is a good Bachelors Degree from a recognised university (typically of five years in duration).
Country-specific guidance on scores or grades
Angola
Students with a Licenciado from Angola would normally be asked to have a score of at least 14 on a 20-point scale in their undergraduate degree.
Benin
Students with a Maitrise from Benin would normally be asked to have a score of at least 14 on a 20-point scale, or a GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale.
Botswana
Students with an honours degree from Botswana would normally be asked to have a first class degree / B grade / 70% or above.
Burkina Faso
Students typically require a Licence and Maîtrise (or a Diplôme d'Ingénieur), as well as a Diplôme d'Études Supérieures Spécialisées (DESS) or Diplôme d'Études Approfondies (DEA) with an overall grade of at least 15 out of 20 from a recognised institution for entry to our postgraduate taught courses.
Burundi
Students with a Diplome d'Ingenieur from Burundi would normally be asked to have a score of at least 80% or a La plus grande distinction in their undergraduate degree.
Cameroon
Students typically require a Four Year Licence, Diplôme d'Études Supérieures de Commerce, Diplôme d'Ingénieur de Conception, Doctorat en Pharmacie, Maîtrise sans thèse, or Master 1 (M1) from a recognised institution with a score of at least 14/20, Bien, or a 3.0 GPA.
Democratic Republic of Congo
Students with a Maitrise from the Democratic Republic of Congo would normally be asked to have a score of at least 80% or a score of 15 on a 20-point scale
Cote d'Ivoire
Students with a Maitrise from Cote d'Ivoire would normally be asked to have a score of at least 80% or a score of 15 on a 20-point scale.
Eritrea
Students typically require a Master's degree from a recognised institution with a GPA of at least 3.3 out of 4.0.
Eswatini
Students with a Bachelors degree from Eswatini would normally be asked to have a degree with a score of 80% or above in their undergraduate degree.
Ethiopia
Students with an honours degree from Ethiopia would normally be asked to have a degree with at least 85% or a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 in your undergraduate degree.
Gabon
Students typically require a Diplôme d'Ingénieur or a Maîtrise from a recognised institution with at least a score of bien/good.
The Gambia
Student with a Masters degree from the Gambia would normally be asked to have a score of at least 70% or a GPA of 3.7 on a 4.3 scale.
Guinea
Students typically require a Diplôme d'Etudes Supérieures, Maîtrise or a Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies from a recognised institution with at least a score of 14/20 or a GPA of 4.0 out of 5.
Lesotho
Students with a Bachelors degree (at least 5 years) from Lesotho would normally be asked to have a score of 80% or above in their undergraduate degree.
Liberia
Students with a Bachelors degree from Liberia would normally be asked to have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale or score of 80% or above in their undergraduate degree.
Madagascar
Students with a Maitrise from Madagascar would normally be asked to have a score of 14 or above on a 20-point scale or a GPA of 3.2 on a 4-point scale.
Malawi
Students from Malawi who have completed one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering for at least 5 years or,
- Bachelor of Law (Honours) for at least 4 years
are typically required to have a GPA of at least 3.3 out of 4.0 or an overall score of 70% or higher or the equivalent of a UK 2:1 classification from a recognised public university.
Students with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine studied for at least 5 years are qualified for entry.
Students with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Optometry are expected to have completed a 5-year degree from Mzuzu University with a GPA of 3.3 out of 4.0 or an overall score of 70% or higher or the equivalent of a UK 2:1 classification.
List of recognised public universities include: Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), Malawi University of Science and Technology, Mzuzu University, or the University of Malawi. Applicants who have not studied at a recognised public university are typically required to have a master’s degree with an overall score of 70% or higher.
Mali
Students with a Diplome de Maitrise from Mali would normally be asked to have a score 15 or above on a 20-point scale.
Mauritius
Students with a Bachelors degree from Mauritius would normally be asked to have score of 60% or above in their undergraduate degree.
Morocco
Students typically require a Licence or a UK equivalent Bachelor degree with a minimum grade of 14 or Bien.
Mozambique
Students with a Grau de Licenciado/Licenciada from Mozambique would normally be asked to have a score of 14 points or above on a 20-point scale.
Namibia
Students typically require a Bachelor degree with Honours (awarded after 2008), a Professional Bachelor degree, or a Master's degree from an accredited institution, with a minimum grade of 70%.
Rwanda
Students with a Maitrise or Bachelor (Honours) degree from Rwanda would normally be asked to have a score of at least 70% or an upper second-class classification in their undergraduate degree.
Senegal
Students with a Maitrise from Senegal would normally be asked to have a score of 14 or above on a 20-point scale.
Sierra Leone
Students with a Bachelor (Honours) degree from Sierra Leone would normally be asked to have an upper second-class classification in their undergraduate degree.
Somalia
Students with a Laurea/Bachelors degree from Somalia would normally be asked to have a GPA of 3.5 on a 4-point scale or score of 85% or above in their undergraduate degree.
South Sudan
Students with a Bachelors (Honours) degree from South Sudan would normally be asked to have a GPA of 3.5 on a 4-point scale or a grade of B+ or above in their undergraduate degree.
Sudan
Students with a Bachelor degree from Sudan would normally be asked to have an upper second-class classification or score of at least 75% in their undergraduate degree.
Tanzania
Students with a degree from Tanzania would normally be asked to have a 2.1 or above or a GPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale in their undergraduate degree.
Togo
Students with a Licence from Togo would normally be asked to have a score of 14 on 20-point scale in their undergraduate degree.
Zambia
If you are from Zambia you would normally be asked to have a distinction in their undergraduate degree.
