Vlad-Stefan Harbuz

Background

I'm Vlad. I work on moral philosophy and social epistemology, more specifically on the ethics and epistemology of Open Source software. I am also interested in ideology, and I co-organise the Ideology Research Group together with Miranda Heath.

I arrived at this topic because I ran a software company for 10 years in which I was the one doing the oppressing. Uh oh!

I also work in software (more at vlad.website), where I try to improve how the Open Source ecosystem is organised in order to reduce exploitation and safeguard our vulnerable global software infrastructure. Among other projects, I co-organise the Open Source Pledge, which has raised $6,879,498 for Open Source maintainers.

In my free time, I am a prolific cat petter. I am always available for catsitting.
