Internal Seed Funding and Support for Meetings / Partnering
New UoE seed fund launched with Cornell UniversityEdinburgh Global is offering a third round of competitive grants in collaboration with Cornell University. Proposals must include a PI at both UoE and Cornell and can be from any discipline. Successful proposals will receive up to $5,000/£4,000 from each university. Deadline 04 October 2024 |
Global Seed Fund KU LeuvenSupports collaborative pilot projects, aiming for follow-up funding from Horizon Europe, NIH or other major international funders. The fund seeks to stimulate new or deepen ongoing collaborations with researchers from a select list of priority partner institutions, including the University of Edinburgh (UoE). Proposals requesting up to €30,000 per project must be submitted by a KU Leuven principal investigator (PI). Please note that projects with matched funding from collaborators are more likely to succeed. UoE will offer up to £10,000 (in-cash) per project for up to 3 proposals with the University of Edinburgh as a collaborator. Deadline 10 October 2024 |

Una Europa Starter FundsFunding (up to €10k) to support the initiation of collaborative activities in any disciplines between partner universities and Freie Universitat Berlin. No deadline. |
BioEquip, SBS equipment funding schemeThe SBS BioEquip funding scheme exists to provide funding for equipment at the School. It aims to provide an organised objective process that enables acquisition of equipment that benefits a broad number of users and would otherwise be difficult to fund. Colleagues wishing School financial support for acquisition of equipment, either directly or through matched funding on a grant, should apply for funding through this scheme. Rice University Seed FundTo jump-start high-impact, cross-institutional collaborations across a range of research areas. The focus of current research discussions between Edinburgh and Rice includes energy, robotics, healthcare, and space and satellites but we welcome quality applications from all disciplines. Each successful proposal may receive up to £15,000/$20,000 from each university for a total of £30,000/$40,000. Big Ideas Accelerator FundThe Big Ideas Accelerator Fund is here to support and catalyse radical, interdisciplinary collaborations within the University community, that wouldn’t be funded by other means. SBS Seed Funding **PI MUST be from SBS**To fund high risk, "big ideas" to enable development and increase the potential for success of future external funding applications.
