Innovative Learning Week 2013
Staff and students are to take part in a week-long programme of creative and experiential learning events for Innovative Learning Week 2013.

Following the success of this year’s inaugural event, Innovative Learning Week (ILW) will run again in 2013, from 18 to 22 February.
New ideas
Throughout the week, regular labs, tutorials, and lectures will be replaced with activities that will allow students to develop new skills, take part in interdisciplinary learning and create new networks.
ILW celebrates the quality and breadth of learning opportunities the University provides.
It also provides a platform for teaching staff to try out new ideas that could potentially be integrated into the regular curricula.
Programme expansion
Last year’s ILW hosted a broad range of events, from physicists and philosophers collaborating to explore time travel to the construction of a trebuchet at Peffermill.
This year will see a larger programme of events, some of which will be School specific and others will be open to all students. Many Schools will include events to foster employability skills.
Next steps
School coordinators across the University are planning events and timetables, discussing collaboration with other Schools, and asking for feedback from students.
An awareness-raising campaign to let students know about this year’s programme will launch soon.
Contact the ILW team if you have any questions, comments or would like to get involved. You can discuss the event on Twitter using #ILW2013.
