Staff recognised in New Year Honours
Four members of the University community have been recognised in the Queen's New Year Honours list.

Women in Science
Professor Wendy Bickmore has been appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
The award is in recognition of her services to biomedical sciences and to women in science.
Professor Bickmore is Director of the MRC Human Genetics Unit at the University.
Animal Welfare
Dr Heather Bacon has been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services to veterinary education, animal welfare and to charity in the UK and abroad.
Dr Bacon is Animal Welfare and Veterinary Outreach Manager at the Jeanne Marchig International Centre for Animal Welfare Education.
Culture and Integration
Professor Bashabi Fraser, Honorary Fellow at the Centre for South Asian Studies, has been made a CBE for services to education, culture and integration in Scotland.
Public Sector
Caroline Gardner, member of the University Court, the University’s governing body, has been made a CBE for services to the Scottish Public Sector.
Caroline leads Audit Scotland as Auditor General for Scotland.
