Fringe events at 50 George Square
The University's 50 George Square hosted a variety of festival events this August.

Who's Watching Who
Who’s Watching Who is a collaborative project between award-winning dramatist Peter Arnott, Dr Laura Bradley of the University of Edinburgh and ex-BBC filmmaker Susan Kemp, exploring the issues surrounding censorship and East German theatre.
On 12 August, a rehearsed reading of Peter Arnott’s new play Ensemble was performed. The play is set in a fictional theatre in 1990, after the fall of the Berlin Wall and before German reunification.
After the play, Peter and Laura were joined by director/writer Lisa Goldman and Index on Censorship associate art producer Julia Farrington for a roundtable discussion on contemporary experiences of theatre censorship.
Ang Li lecture
Ang Li, the most controversial woman writer in Taiwan, presented a lecture on 27 August focusing on the intertwining of gender, food and politics and Asian women’s literature on the international literary scene.
The lecture was free, non-ticketed.
Edinburgh Arab Festival
The Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies Department ran the first cultural Arab Festival to take place in Scotland on 28 - 29 August.
This vibrant two-day cultural festival provided visitors with a unique insight into Arab culture through a wide array of open and scheduled events.
