Summaries text writing by History of Art at the University of Edinburgh
The ARTIST ROOMS Research Partnership is leading on the writing of online summaries in support of the ARTIST ROOMS collection.
Coordinator: Ruth Burgon, History of Art, University of Edinburgh
Each summary of around 600-700 words is a standard resource at Tate (and in different form, for NGS) and serves as a mini catalogue entry, describing works and exploring in detail their making, meaning and reception.
Currently over 120 summaries on works in the ARTIST ROOMS collection have already been undertaken and published, with over 60 of these authored by History of Art staff and students at the University of Edinburgh from 2011 onwards. Research is ongoing, with new summaries currently being written and edited for future publication.
A team of around ten individuals based in History of Art at the University of Edinburgh is working with the ARTIST ROOMS team and Tate Research to identify priority artists, research, write and edit texts.
