Responsibility of waste disposal and its environmental impact lays on individual lab members. Waste disposal involves decision-making that takes into account the environmental cost in energy use and workload on facilities that feeds back to the efficiency of lab work. The decision also must comply with health and safety regulations.
The School of Biological Sciences has produced a new Waste Policy and Code of Practice along with accompanying waste flow charts.
