Biology Society

The Biology Society (BioSoc) is a society for all those who love Biology and Biological Sciences.

Website

BioSoc is a welcoming group of like-minded biologists and biology fanatics with a goal of creating a community within the University. Every year BioSoc holds events such as pub-crawls, lectures, pub-quizzes, seminars, ceilidhs, and even the annual BioBall!

Last year we started two sports teams, female netball and male football, they were a great hit and we will be continuing them this year with hopes to diversify to other sports as well! This year we will be starting the first ever BioFamilies, which will work to increase communication between students in different year groups, older years will be the “parents” and younger years the “kids”. This will help younger years learn about their degree and feel much more welcome and at home here at Edinburgh University

BioSoc's been working to provide engaging events while we're all at home, including an online charity baking competition, several academic lectures and pub quizzes, a BioSoc hoodie giveaway and this semester we'll be running a 'virtual library' for online study sessions and a scientific conference on presentation and writing skills with the Science Journal Society.
