School of Biological Sciences
The School of Biological Sciences, part of the University's College of Science and Engineering, has one of the largest concentrations of biologists in the United Kingdom, with a wide range of disciplines and around 200 new undergraduates enrolled each year. Our teaching is based upon our phenomenal research strengths, meaning you are taught by scientists of international repute. This leads to some great opportunities for you to gain new knowledge and skills from teaching in class as well as through self-driven learning such as projects, practicals and field work. These skills equip you to go on and thrive in whatever you choose to do after University.

Prospects after you graduate
A degree from the University of Edinburgh is recognised throughout the world. The skills gained from our degrees are highly valued across many career pathways. Many of our graduates go on to do higher degrees, such as an MSc or PhD before entering research careers. Other destinations are varied, and the wide range of analytical and scientific skills learned through our programmes ensures that our graduates are in demand in other fields outside of Biological Sciences research.
The time in Edinburgh is a treasure that I can hold this memory for life. I learned a lot from my peers and professors. I had some new friends but all are nice. I also got a lot of help from the university staff and Edinburgh's... I received an offer from Imperial College London. And I will go for Biotech study as a master student in the next academic year.
