Information for School of Biological Sciences undergraduate visiting exchange students.
Welcome to the School of Biological Sciences!
The next few weeks will see you settle into life and studies at the University. We encourage you to embrace the opportunities available to you and involve yourself with School and University life.
To help you find your feet at the University of Edinburgh there are a couple of things you can do before you arrive, or during Welcome Week.
1. Choose your courses
In Welcome Week, there will be a chance to help you with your course choices when you meet your Student Adviser.
The Study Abroad Course Finder might be useful to you while you research your options.
There is some advice on Biological Sciences Courses in the 'Programme Guide for students entering Year 2 or Year 3' (2024/25 edition).
2. Get familiar with the University online
We'd advise all new students to work through the various sections on the 'An introduction to the University Online' page. This information is designed to introduce you to some of the essential online tools and programmes that you will use during your time at the University of Edinburgh.

3. Review the 'Top 6 Tasks'
The University's New Students' website has lots of great information to help you get ready to start your studies at the University of Edinburgh. An important task is to complete the 'Top 6 Tasks' which must be completed by all new students either before, or when you arrive, to enable you to begin your studies with us.
4. Download the University of Edinburgh Events App
Welcome Week is packed with academic and social events to help you settle in at Edinburgh. The Events App is an essential tool to explore what is on offer, get organised and make the most of your first week at our university.
The full September Welcome 2024 programme of events and activities will be live soon on the 'UoE Events app'.
Please check your emails regularly for direct communications, including information about specific activities nearer to the start date too.
The School of Biological Sciences has organised the following event in September 2024 for visiting exchange students.
Wednesday 11th SeptemberSchool of Biological Sciences Exchange Students Welcome, 14:00 - 16:00 This event is mandatory for all new Exchange Students in the School of Biological Sciences, those studying with us from another institution. Academic staff and the Student Experience Team will welcome you to the School, give you information about your studies, help you to finalise course choices and give you a chance to ask any questions as you begin your studies with us. We'll also give you an informal tour of the King's Buildings Campus. |
