How to provide feedback on your academic experience.
Feedback for the School of Biological Sciences
Some of the most common ways we gather feedback are through:
- Course Enhancement Questionnaires
- Student Representatives
- Student-Staff Liaison Meetings - These are run at both School and College level
We may also run surveys at other times in the year and we'll let you know about those in the newsletter or through the announcements section of your Year Group Learn page.
Course Enhancement Questionnaires
Every year students help us by providing feedback about courses, this may be:

Suggestions about the presentation of material

Comments on the workload that is expected

Organisation and administration
Towards the end of courses we ask students to complete anonymous questionnaires. We take your views seriously and would encourage you to complete these questionnaires for all your courses.
Course Organisers will also seek mid-semester feedback – this may take a variety of forms.
The analyses of these questionnaires will be made available so that all students can see them. The findings are discussed by Teaching Committees and given to the External Examiners for comment.

Student Representatives
Programme Representatives have a two-way role, providing information to staff about student views, and helping to ensure that the views of Teaching Committees are communicated to students. Issues may range from difficulties about handing in work to commenting on facilities.
Near the beginning of the academic year we seek representatives to serve on the Student-Staff Liaison Committee for each year group. These groups (one for each year) meet with academics and students from each of the courses in that year. All students are welcome to send your comments to these Committees either by talking to a Programme Representative or by emailing the Student Experience Team.

The curriculum of Biological Sciences is overseen by meetings of the Board of Studies. This consists of lecturers and some student representatives.
The Board of Studies does not deal with detailed matters about individual courses, but oversees their academic content, viewing each course in the light of the complete four-year degree programme.
Students are invited to contribute to this curriculum development through the Board's student members (up to two from each year). Student representatives on the Board of Studies are generally drawn from student members of the Student-Staff Liaison Committees.
