Student Counselling
The Student Counselling service supports the mental health of all students at the University.
The Student Counselling Service offers a wide range of services from short-term one-to-one counselling to self-help guides and presentations, talks and workshops.
- The Service supports the mental health of all students, using short-term counselling and referral to other services.
- In addition they offer a range of self-help workshops and literature.
The counsellors are experienced and professionally trained. They can offer free counselling to anyone with personal problems which affect their wellbeing.
Skills for Life and Learning
The Student Counselling Service also includes the Skills for Life and Learning Service. A series of presentations and workshops promoting wellbeing.
Togetherall
The online support network Togetherall, is available 24/7 and guided by trained professionals. It is free to students of the University.

Feeling Good App
The Foundation for Positive Mental Health is working with the University of Edinburgh to provide free access to the Feeling Good App - an evidence based self-help programme.
SilverCloud
SilverCloud is a suite of online CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) programmes that are flexible, effective and easy to use. Programmes include:
- Space from anxiety: learn skills to manage and overcome the symptoms of anxiety
- Space from depression: knowledge and support for depression or low mood
- Space from depression and anxiety: understand more about depression and anxiety, manage symptoms and begin to make changes to feel better.
- Space from stress: learn to manage stress and bring balance into your life
- Space for positive body image: information and support for issues with body image and self-esteem

If you feel your problem is urgent, you may need to go to your own doctor (GP) or the University Health Service.
Support in a crisis
If you are unable to get to a GP Practice or need immediate medical advice, call NHS24 by phoning 111 or visit the NHS 24 website.
Emergencies
If you are in serious need of emergency medical attention at any time, even without registering for a GP in advance, call Emergency Services on 999.
