Background

Zipporah Iregi is a Registered Nurse with five years of experience in advocacy and communication focused on Health Workforce and System Strengthening. She is pursuing a Master of Science by Research in Nursing Studies at the University of Edinburgh and leads the Africa Regional Hub at the Nursing Now Challenge, where she continues her advocacy for healthcare workers across the continent. Previously, Zipporah worked with Afya Reach, coordinating and supporting the training of over 800 Community Health Promoters in Kirinyaga County, Kenya, enhancing healthcare delivery at the community level. Over the past five years, she has been at the forefront of advocating for healthcare workers and Universal Health Coverage, speaking at various nursing and global platforms, including the White House Covid-19 Summit, Switchpoint Exchange, and World Hospital Congress. Through these platforms, she has championed fair pay, adequate PPE, and investment in training, recruitment, and research for healthcare professionals. In 2022, Zipporah received the Global Nursing Now Challenge Advocacy and Communication Award for her outstanding contributions to the field. Her passion for nursing leadership and mentorship also led her to co-found the Kenya Students and Novice Nurses (KESNNUR) program, a leadership training and professional development initiative that now reaches over 3,000 nursing students across 15 institutions in Kenya
