Background
I received my PhD in Mathematics in 2017 from Yıldız Technical University and my PhD in the History of Science in 2024 from Istanbul Medeniyet University. I have worked on several research projects focusing on the mathematical sciences in the Ottoman period. I am currently an Assistant Professor at the Institute for the History of Science, Istanbul Medeniyet University, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh.
Research summary
My research focuses on the history of mathematics in Islamic civilizations, with a particular emphasis on mathematical sciences in the classical Ottoman period and the modernization of mathematics in the late Ottoman era. I primarily work with Arabic, Persian, and Ottoman Turkish mathematical texts, aiming to understand how mathematical knowledge was developed, transformed, and transmitted within Islamic societies.
