Background
Yongqi Zeng is a PhD candidate at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh. Her research lies at the intersection of bi/multilingualism, higher education, and motivation studies, with a particular focus on translanguaging as a sociocultural and pedagogical practice. Drawing on sociolinguistic and educational perspectives, her work explores how bi/multilingual students mobilise their linguistic resources across academic and social contexts, and how different sociocultural and psychological factors shape their learning experiences. Before coming to the UK, Yongqi accumulated her teaching experience in English language education, both in full-time and part-time jobs. She was involved in teaching IELTS preparation courses and College English to students from a range of disciplinary backgrounds.
