Background

I am a postdoctoral fellow working with Prof. Wendy Bickmore at MRC Human Genetics Unit at the University of Edinburgh.

I graduated with a first-class BSc from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India, in 2003. During the final year of my BSc, I became fascinated by the concept of microbial genetic engineering, which led me to enrol in an MSc Biotechnology program at CCS University, Meerut, India. I graduated with a first-class MSc in 2005. In the same year, I successfully passed the University Grants Commission's National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET), qualifying for a lectureship at Indian universities. I was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to fund my PhD. In 2013, I completed my PhD on RNA polymerase III transcription at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), a centre of excellence under the umbrella of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Qualifications

PhD, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, India

Research summary

My long-term interest is in exploring mechanisms underlying gene regulation in the context of mammalian development and human disease. I combine biochemical, genomic and computational approaches to establish cause-consequence relationships in a genome-wide manner.

Current research interests
