Background

My current portfolio of research focuses on personalising care for women with abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB; heavy periods) with a specialist interest in understanding the mechanisms leading to bleeding in the endometrium from women with AUB associated with uterine fibroids and adenomyosis. I am involved in collaborative multi-disciplinary research developing innovative techniques for the non-invasive diagnosis of adenomyosis using Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE). I completed my PhD from the University of Edinburgh, and continue to develop my academic programme of research focused on precision medicine approaches for chronic gynaecological complaints. I have been involved in researching female astronaut health with a specialist focus on menstrual cycle control and venous thromboembolism risk in space.
