Background

I gained my first degree in Psychology at the University of Manchester, before pursuing an MSc in Neuroscience at the University of Oxford. After a brief venture into cancer immunology, I moved to Scotland and obtained my PhD in Translational Neuroscience under supervision by Prof Anna Williams, Prof Josef Priller and Dr Luise Seeker. My PhD project was focussed on understanding the role of glia in Huntington's disease, and I used single nuclear transcriptomics to profile the properties of individual cells in the brains of patients in order to elucidate their pathology. My research has always been focussed on understanding the molecular underpinnings of disease, with the ultimate goal being to leverage this knowledge for therapeutic advantage.
