Thesis title: Incorporating Digital Assets as Property of the Insolvent Estate

Background

Shiqing is a PhD candidate at Edinburgh Law School. His research explores the intersection of property law and insolvency law, with a particular focus on the treatment of digital assets as property in insolvency contexts and the substantive and procedural issues involved in disposing of digital assets in insolvency proceedings.

Shiqing holds an LLM in Comparative and European Private Law from the University of Edinburgh (2024) and completed his LLB law studies in China (2023). He also holds the legal professional qualification of China.

Shiqing’s research focuses primarily on insolvency law, property law, law of debt, and the law of obligations, with a strong comparative and historical perspective. His current research explores how traditional theories of property and insolvency law may be extended to analyse issues relating to digital assets and data assets.
