Background
Sarah is a Knowledge Broker with the PHIRST Elevate research team, based at the Physical Activity for Health Research Centre (PAHRC) at the University of Edinburgh.
Sarah has a strong interest in public health. She originally has a medical background, and graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 2021. She also holds a First Class Honours Degree in Human Sciences from University College London (UCL).
Before becoming part of PHIRST Elevate, Sarah worked in various roles across clinical medicine, industry (Medical Information Specialist) and research support (Research Facilitator). Through these roles she has gained diverse experience in breaking down complex information and communicating it to a range of audiences in the right format.
As Knowledge Broker, Sarah works on evaluations of public health interventions that are run by local governments across the UK. She leads on knowledge mobilisation, stakeholder engagement and impact pathways. Her work in this area ensures that the findings and recommendations from each evaluation help inform policy and practice. Sarah also engages closely with local residents and members of the public, and runs public involvement workshops (or other activities). This means that each evaluation receives valuable input from the local community.
