Ryan Choi is a PhD candidate who holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Chinese and Language Education from the University of Hong Kong, as well as a master’s degree in Chinese Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

Current research interests
Ryan Choi's research examines the notion of hanjian (漢奸) primarily within the framework of the Japanese occupation of East Asian regions, specifically Hong Kong, as well as its legacy in the post-war period following Japan’s surrender. His current research focuses on the textual and visual materials produced by Hong Kong’s cultural collaborators, such as Ye Lingfeng and Lu Mengshu, who oversaw all major propagandistic publications during the occupation.Past research interests
Ryan Choi’s previous research interests have centred on the study of Sinophone literature, with a particular focus on modern and contemporary literature from Hong Kong and Taiwan.Project activity
