Rie Shigemori

Project Officer - Student Voice

Background

I (pronouns they/them) have worked in the education sector for more than seven years.

I worked as a full-time teacher and part-time tutor in Japan, offering 100+ students in secondary education academic, pastoral, and career support.

As a Student Experience Assistant at the School of Economics (October 2022 - May 2025), I was actively engaged in organising various opportunities and activities to enhance the student experience - from managing events and workshops to proposing and leading the School's student voice reform. In addition, I voluntarily contributed to building the infrastructure of administrative support for the School's study abroad.

As the Project Officer (until November 2025), I supported the design and development of the University's new Student Voice Framework, which aims to create consistency and transparency in student voice activities across Schools and Colleges.

After working at the Unviersity, I am returning to teaching at secondary education schools in Japan.
