Background
Raquel earned an Integrated Masters in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Porto, Portugal, in 2018, and a Masters in Academic and Clinical Education from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto in 2022. She served as a general practitioner and contributed to the education of veterinary medicine students at UPVet - Porto’s University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, from 2018 to 2021. In 2021, Raquel worked as a clinical pathologist at DNATech, a veterinary laboratory in Portugal. Upon relocating to the UK in 2022, she initially worked as a small animal general practitioner in a private veterinary hospital and later assumed the role of a clinical pathologist at Battlab in 2023. Alongside her clinical responsibilities, Raquel collaborated with the Animal Blood Bank in Portugal and the UK from 2019 to 2023. In March 2024, she enrolled in the DVetMed program at the University of Edinburgh, concurrently undertaking a Residency in Veterinary Clinical Pathology.
