Rachel Summers

Head of Planning, Community and Operations

Background

Rachel first joined the University in 2007, initially working in administration roles within Estates & Buildings, then onto management roles in both Estates and Information Services; From 2014 she worked as the Library & University Collections Business Administrator, before moving to the Bayes Centre in the summer of 2019.

As Bayes Centre Head of Planning, Community and Operations, Rachel has strategic leadership across a broad remit of professional services priority areas, influencing change at a senior level across the University, engaging with internal and external stakeholders and takes responsibility for resource allocation and operational delivery.   Working with a complex funding portfolio, Rachel has autonomy to lead on the strategic development and execution of a complex set of activities, funded from various internal and external sources and sponsors – in accordance with Bayes Centre’s interdisciplinary mandate, strategic project objectives, activities and frontline delivery commitments.

Rachel is a member of the Bayes Management Board, with oversight of the development of an ambitious resourcing and sustainability model that supports the Bayes Centre’s growth ambitions, whilst defining surplus generation objectives, impact against a set of ambitious deliverables and provides leadership on the Centre’s relationship with the University’s Finance Business Partnering and HR teams.
