Background
I am a biotechnologist specializing in genome engineering, stem cell/germ cell biology, and bioproduction, with over a decade of research and industrial experience. My research focuses on the development and application of advanced genetic engineering technologies for genome editing and bioproduction.
I obtained my PhD in Biotechnology in 2021 from the Research Institute of Biotechnology (RIB), Ferdowsi University of Iran, under the supervision of Prof. Hesam Dehghani. During my PhD studies, I worked as a visiting scientist in the laboratory of Prof. Bertrand Pain at INSERM, Lyon, France (2017–2018), where I expanded my expertise in stem cell biology and genetic engineering.
Alongside my academic career, I have gained extensive industrial experience at DENAzist Asia Corporation, a biotechnology company located in the Science and Technology Park of Ferdowsi University of Iran, specializing in the development and manufacture of molecular biology products. I served as a Principal Scientist from 2017 to 2025 and have been working as a Scientific Advisor since 2025. In these roles, I have led projects involving recombinant protein production, molecular diagnostics, product development, and technology transfer.
Following my PhD, I continued at RIB as a Postdoctoral Researcher (2021–2023) and subsequently as a Group Leader (2023–so far), leading research projects in genome engineering and biotechnology. I am currently a Research Fellow in the group of Prof. Mike McGrew at the Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh, UK (2025–so far), where I am developing genome-engineered chicken models for disease resistance and advancing technologies for germline genome editing.
