Background

Clinical microbial diagnostics and microbiome research

Qualifications

  • 2022    PhD Medical Microbiology  -  University of Groningen, The Netherlands
  • 2015    MSc Medical Microbiology  -  KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden
  • 2011    BSc Molecular Biology and Genetics  -  Izmir Institute of Technology, Turkey

Current research interests

In my current projects, I'm applying the microbial genomics to the One Health context, looking at the biological and ecological drivers underlying health dynamics across human - animal - environmental interactions.

Past research interests

During my PhD, I developed clinical microbial diagnostic approaches for pathogen identification, antimicrobial resistance profiling, and pathogen typing for outbreak investigations. As a postdoctoral researcher, I expanded my work into microbiome science, focusing on the role of the microbiome in recurrent pregnancy loss.
