Dr Morven Baker (MBChB (Hons), MRCPsych)

Clinical Research Fellow

Background

I graduated with Honours in Medicine (MBChB) from the University of Birmingham in 2016. I completed Core Psychiatry Training in the South-East Scotland deanery in 2024, gaining membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

I have since worked as a Clinical Research Fellow within the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. My initial work as a Research Fellow was on the HELIOS-BD study, investigating the light hypersensitivity hypothesis in bipolar disorder. I am now currently working on ENERGISE-BD, a Wellcome Trust-funded randomised controlled trial which will examine the mental and physical health impacts of two different dietary interventions on people with bipolar depression. I am particularly interested in the complex interplay between metabolic dysfunction and mental illness.
