B.A. Science, Technology, and Society (Mathematics Minor) from Vassar College, Poughkeepsie NY, USA
Responsibilities & affiliations
I am currently working in the CMVM Communications and Engagement team, on a secondment from my role as IRR Public Engagement and Communications Manager (CIR).
I am a member of the following internal committees/working groups:
- Edinburgh Medical School 300 Project - Community Connections workstream member
- Research Communications Network - CMVM working group representative
- Cross-University Sustainable MarComms - Member of pilot group
In my previous role, I supported and facilitated public engagement, communications, and impact activities at the Centre for Inflammation Research, including, but not limited to:
- PE consultation: offering expertise in developing, managing, and evaluating public engagement projects; assisting with public engagement grant applications
- Science festivals: developing research-based activities and organising centre involvement in science festivals like the Edinburgh International Science Festival and the Midlothian Science Festival
- Online engagement: engaging audiences with research on social media and the centre's website, managing public content on the centre's website
- Communications: producing internal newsletters, writing news articles for the centre's website, copyediting external research publications for non-expert audiences, liaising with the University Press Office
- Training: procuring and providing training opportunities focusing on impact, evaluation, and general good practice in public engagement
