Background

Miguel A. Costa-Gomes studied at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics), Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA SBE) and at the University of California, San Diego. He held posts at Harvard University (Harvard Business School), IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and at the Universities of York, Aberdeen, and St. Andrews before coming to Edinburgh in 2022.

He has held visiting academic positions at the California Institute of Technology and the Institute of Social and Economic Research at Osaka University.

He is a past member of the editorial board of the American Economic Review, and also a past advisory editor of Games and Economic Behavior.

He was a member of the "Individuals, Markets and Organisations (SH1)"  (i.e., Economics, Finance and Management) European Research Council Starting Grants panel in 2021 and 2023.
