Qualifications
Martín holds a degree in Agronomy at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a Master's degree in Animal Science and is currently a PhD student in Agriculture and Food Systems at the University of Edinburgh.
His professional and academic experience has focused on addressing various food insecurity challenges from different approaches. For example, he has coordinated partnerships between small-scale goat producers in central Chile, worked with a local NGO in northern Mozambique to diversify diets and improve access to protein for small-scale farmers, implemented school gardens in central Kenya, and helped develop the agroecological approach of one of Chile's most important public food security programmes.
Martin is currently researching food governance structures in Chile, with a particular focus on the role of the agricultural sector in improving access to sustainable diets for the most vulnerable population.
