Background
’S e sgrìobhadair a th’ annam sa Ghàidhlig agus sa Bheurla, air an duilleig agus airson fiolm, telebhisein is àrd-ùrlair. Nam chuid obrach, bidh mi a’ feuchainn ‘càradh faicsinneach’ a dhèanamh, a’ toirt guth dhaibhsan aig na robh guth roimhe air a’ chlàr oifigeil, gu sònraichte boireannach, clann is òigridh agus luchd na Gàidhlig. Thàinig an nobhail as ùire agam, ‘Newes of Witches’ a-mach as t-samhradh am bliadhna (2026) agus tha cruinneachadh de sgeulachdan goirid ri thighinn san Dàmhair. An-uiridh chaidh an nobhail agam ‘The Specimens’ a thaghadh mar Leabhar Albannach na Mìos le Waterstones. Chaidh mo thaghadh le prògram Bigger Picture as t-samhradh agus tha mi ag obair air fiolm 15 mion sa Ghàidhlig ri linn sin. Nam dhreuchd mar Sgrìobhadair Gàidhlig air Mhuinntearas, tha mi an dòchas pròiseact sgrìobhaidh eile a thoirt gu buil ag obair le stuthan on tasglann aig Sgoil Eòlais na h-Alba.
I am a writer in Gaelic and English, on the page and for stage and screen. My work attempts acts of ‘visible mending’, giving voice to lives previously neglected in official records, especially women, children and young people and the world of Gaelic Scotland. My latest novel ‘Newes of Witches’ was released this summer (2026) and I have a forthcoming collection of short stories (October). Last year my novel ‘The Specimens’ was selected as a Waterstones Scottish Book of the Month. I was selected for Bigger Picture in the summer and am working on a 15 minute Gaelic short film for production through the programme. In my time as Writer-in-Residence, I hope to develop a new writing project inspired by the archive of the School of Scottish Studies.
