Background
I am a first-year PhD student and my research explores transformative justice as a community-based and survivor-centered approach to sexual violence in the Spanish context. I focus on how individual experiences of transformative justice practices to respond to sexual violence shape the collective history of Spanish activists and grassroots communities, and how these life stories can advance global efforts to develop collective and non-punitive forms of justice. Situated at the intersection of criminology, sociology, and gender studies, and building on penal abolition and decolonial feminist theories, my project uses feminist ethnography and oral history, as well as collaborative and creative methods. I previously obtained a joint interdisciplinary MA in Gender Studies from Utrecht University and the University of Granada, as well as a BA in Sociology and a BFA in Film Production from Concordia University.
