Background
Madeleine is a biotechnologist with a strong passion for agricultural sustainability, community engagement, and the practical application of scientific advancements. She received an international upbringing, spending roughly half her childhood in Germany and the other half in New Zealand. After receiving a Master’s degree in Plant Biotechnology at the University of Otago, she joined the global agri-tech company AbacusBio, where sustainable food production and stakeholder collaboration was of particular interest to her. Her PhD research builds on this knowledge, exploring how rumen microbiome data can be incorporated into dairy cattle breeding programs to reduce methane emissions. Alongside this work, she is also investigating the regulatory landscape and how AI-powered insights can help farmers make informed and sustainable management decisions.
