Lorna Whittemore (BVMS, GPCertFelp, MRVCS) (BVMS, GPCertFelp)

Dick Vet General Practice Veterinary Surgeon

Background

Lorna Whittemore studied at the University of Glasgow Veterinary Medical School and graduated in 2001. She began her veterinary career at the SPCA in Cape Town, South Africa, immersed in high volume charity work. Returning to the UK she settled near Cambridge and spent the next 15 years in a companion animal hospital practice learning the art of veterinary medicine.  During this time she gained her ISPVS Certificate in Feline Practice.

2016 to 2024 saw Lorna again in the Southern Hemisphere as a companion animal veterinary surgeon in Cape Town, helping the practice become the first Silver Accredited Cat Friendly Clinic (ISFM) on the mainland African continent.  Further clinical education during this time lead to Cat Friendly and CAETA accreditation.

Seeking to help animals and their human caregivers in diverse ways Lorna became the veterinary managing editor for a digital media company. Fact checking and giving a seal of approval to animal care articles, journalist articles and press releases.

Scotland was calling and a return to the UK took up much of 2025. She is delighted to now be working at the Dick Vet General Practice and back in her natural habitat.
