Background
Katie holds a joint lectureship across the Global Agriculture and Food Systems division and Science, Technology and Innovation Studies in the School of Social and Political Science. She leads postgraduate courses in Making Science Relevant for Policy and Decision-Making, and Innovation in Sustainable Food Systems. She is also a member of the Scottish Government’s Centre of Expertise in Animal Disease Outbreaks (EPIC).
Katie’s research interests lie in in the development and implementation of practical, innovative strategies to prevent and control infectious disease in animal and human populations. Her career has covered many aspects of animal health and One Health, including first opinion veterinary practice, population health in livestock and aquaculture production, epidemiology, social science, knowledge exchange and public health.
