Background
Kathryn graduated from University College Dublin in 1994, where she subsequently completed an ECVS residency in small animal surgery with an intercalated Masters degree. Her first job following completion of her residency was at the Dick Vet, where she was a Lecturer at the Hospital for Small Animals from 2000 to 2004. This was followed by several years in private referral practice before returning to academia at the University of Glasgow, where Kathryn was a Senior Lecturer and Head of Small Animal Surgery. From 2013-2019 she worked as a self-employed Specialist Surgical Locum, before returning to the Dick Vet in 2019 as a Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery (part-time).
Kathryn is an EBVS® European Veterinary SpecialistTM and an RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery, with a particular interest in surgical oncology and abdominal surgery. Outside work, Kathryn enjoys outdoor swimming, hill-walking and jewellery-making.
