Background
I am a final year PhD student at Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh, supervised by Professor Laura Colucci-Gray and Dr Ramsey Affifi. My research - Crafting STEAM: an inquiry into material practices to enact a sustainable education - originates from fifteen years of social impact work and education programming in the jewellery industry. I focus on the educational opportunities of material engagement, working with theory of enactive cognition. I am exploring through an autoethnography and ethnography, analysed through arts based methods, the potential for technical craft to enact a sustainable education.
