Background
Jo has over 25 years' experience as a research administrator, having begun her career at Napier University's Transport Research Institute in 1998 before a move to Napier's central Research Office in 2004.
Jo joined the University of Edinburgh in 2008 as Administrator on the ECAT programme. This hugely successful clinical PhD programme, funded by Wellcome, continues to run today with Jo now in the role of Programme Manager. Alongside ECAT, Jo also helps to administer the TRACC programme for cancer clinicians, funded by Cancer Research UK and run jointly between the University of Edinburgh and the University of Glasgow. Additionally, Jo supports recruitment onto the SCREDS Postdoctoral Clinical Lectureship programme.
More recently, in a strategic move to provide improved support for all clinical academics, Jo's role has been expanded to include early- and mid-career clinical academics from across College. Jo has been instrumental in setting up a variety of initiatives including the Clinical Academic Career Group, the Clinical Fellowship Support Group, the ACE Group (Academic Clinicians in Edinburgh), the BOOST scheme (Buddy Outreach for Ongoing Space to Talk) and the CMVM Clinical Bridge Funding programme.
