Background
Jen is an experienced medical educationalist with 20 years of experience in undergraduate medical education. She is currently the Programme Director for the MBChB HCP-Med for Healthcare Professionals programme, an innovative part-time medical degree for existing health care professionals. She is committed to widening participation and supporting alternative routes to study medicine.
Jen has extensive experience of leadership and management in undergraduate medical education including curriculum design, assessment, admissions, educational governance, staff development, performance management, student support and educational supervision. She holds external leadership and management roles at a national level as a member of the Medical Schools Educational Leads Advisory Group (ELAG). Jen has held various external examiner roles and has experience as an external panel member for undergraduate fitness to practice. Clinically Jen is an experienced GP working as a GP Partner in Fife.
She has supervised numerous intercalated BMSc medical education dissertation projects and is currently an external PhD supervisor for Elisabeth Yaneske with Suzanne Grant and Chris Lim at the University of Dundee for the project - Use of design thinking to improve the quality of patient triage in primary care.
Jen is also a reviewer for the International Journal of Practice-based Learning in Health and Social Care.
