Biography

Background

I’m a clinician and educator in the Farm Animal Practice at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (R(D)SVS), University of Edinburgh.

 I qualified from University College Dublin in 2012 and have since worked in mixed and large animal practice across Ireland, the UK, and New Zealand. I worked in market access and verification services in New Zealand (2017–2019), gaining insight into regulatory, quality assurance, and export standards.

As a researcher/educator, my focus is on clinical education and the development and assessment of practical skills. I was awarded an MSc in Clinical Education in 2026. I am particularly interested in robust, authentic assessment methods that translate directly to clinical competence and confidence in the workplace.

As an educator and course coordinator, I have led the 4th-year Farm Animal course at R(D)SVS, overseeing updates to both the curriculum and the way practical competencies are taught and assessed. This work was recognised with the R(D)SVS Lecturer of the Year award in 2025.
