Biography

Background

I am currently work between Charité Universitätmedizin, Berlin and the University of Edinburgh. I stand firmly for advocacy, and approach nursing and nurse education as a feminist project. My research and professional projects take a critical (pro)feminist standpoint to raise the status of nurses.

I practise as a nurse at NHS Lothian, previously working in Yorkshire and London for NHS Hospitals and as a Specialist Nurse in Organ Donation for NHS Blood and Transplant. My background in nursing is in Nephrology, Organ Donation and Transplantation. I support the Nursing Now! campaign and I am involved in organising local and national activism.

Research summary

Nursing is a relatively recent arrival to higher education institutions and is still establishing the ‘terms of coexistence' of where and how it will inhabit space within academia. I take a Posthuman approach which decentralises the humanistic lens of contemporary nursing care. I work with this ongoing renegotiation to incrementally contribute to conceptualising the fundamentals of care.

I work independently and collaboratively and I welcome new partnerships and collaborations.
