Research summary

My research interests centre on Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE), with a strong focus on ensuring that healthcare innovation is meaningfully shaped by the voices and experiences of patients and families. I am particularly interested in paediatric neurology, especially conditions affecting early brain development, and how insights from developmental psychology and behavioural neuroscience can inform more effective diagnostics, interventions, and support for children and their caregivers. I also have a strong interest in qualitative research, using in‑depth, person‑centred methods to understand lived experiences and translate them into improvements in clinical practice and research design.

Project activity

Enabling the Early and Equitable Diagnosis of Epilepsy in Infants in the Community (EPIC)

I am a Research Assistant within the dynamic and interdisciplinary EPIC team. Our work focuses on developing a simple, AI‑powered brain‑monitoring tool designed to detect seizures in children, including severe forms such as infantile spasms.

I work closely with Dr Laura Smith to deliver the project’s patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) activities. Our aim is to ensure that the development of the device is shaped by the lived experiences of families and the practical needs of clinicians, supporting both suitability for users and seamless integration into existing clinical workflows.
