Dr Giulia Pinton (she/her)

Associate Tutor

Background

My tertiary education began with a passion for languages, literatures, linguistics, and cultures, but later, while studying, I worked for a no-profit organisation that offered support to students of all levels of schooling. This opportunity raised my interest in and curiosity for teaching and led me to move into the education field and pursue a Masters degree in TESOL. I obtained a PhD in education in 2024 from The University of Edinburgh.

My research is interdisciplinary; my area of expertise is collaborative learning, a student-centred approach that fosters students’ independent and active learning with the co-construction and co-production of meaning; and interculturality, especially with a view to equality, diversity, and inclusion. I am a qualitative researcher, I use a variety of methods and I believe in the importance of reflexivity in research.
