Background

Gary is a Teaching Fellow in Physical Education (PE) at Moray House School of Education and Sport. He contributes to teaching on a range of Year 2, 3 and 4 courses on the MA (Hons) PE programme. Gary is also Course Organiser for Physical Education Curriculum and Pedagogy 2: The Early Secondary Years (PECP2), and a member of the Physical Culture Research in Education (PCRE) group at the University of Edinburgh. 

He completed a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Gloucestershire (2005-2008). After graduation, Gary worked as a Cover Supervisor and PE Technician at a secondary school in Cornwall before attending Loughborough University, where he completed a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in PE in 2012. After achieving QTS status, Gary spent the next 11 years teaching at a secondary academy and sixth form in Southwest England. During this period, he completed his MSc in Education (2012-2014) and his PhD at Loughborough University (2015-2022) before pursuing a career in higher education.

Gary was awarded Advance HE Associate Fellowship Status in September 2024 and is currently working towards Fellowship Status.
