Dr Gajarishiyan Rasalingam

MBBS, MPH, M.FMed(Edin)

Background

I am currently working as a clinical doctor in Sri Lanka, while also collaborating with the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Edinburgh on research and quality improvement projects. I lead the Palliative Home-Based Care Program in Mullaitivu District, which delivers holistic care through primary healthcare centres.

I completed my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2018 and was honoured to receive the UK Government Scholarship in 2019 to pursue a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) at the University of Aberdeen. I was also awarded the Elisabeth Russell Prize for Best Research in 2020.

My research interests lie in Primary Health Care, Non-Communicable Diseases, and Palliative Care. I have a strong background in quantitative research, including large-scale data analysis, R programming, and cross-sectional study design. I’m particularly interested in how human behavioural science influences health outcomes and in using population-based epidemiological and clinical data to identify risk factors and improve health service delivery and community-based care.

Outside of work, I enjoy digital art, graphic design, and cooking South Asian cuisine.
